Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
About Us
A volunteer-led Greek NGO dedicated to caring for stray dogs, supporting their recovery and helping them find safer futures.
Giving Stray Dogs the Care They Deserve
We are volunteers who make up the Greek NGO Stray Mysteries, meaning Stray Mysteries. Our work is driven by compassion, teamwork and a shared commitment to improving the lives of stray dogs.
Why “Mysteries”?
Every stray dog arrives with an unknown story. We may not know where they came from, what they experienced or how long they survived alone. Each dog is a mystery waiting to be understood, cared for and given a new beginning.
Our Story
Stray Mysteries was formed by people who could not ignore the challenges faced by stray dogs. What began as a shared concern grew into a volunteer community focused on care, treatment, rehabilitation and responsible rehoming.
Who Are the Volunteers?
We are dog lovers from Greece and other countries who contribute our time, experience and compassion. Together, we help with feeding, walking, socialisation, medication, cleaning, transport and adoption support.
Where Do the Dogs Come From?
The dogs in the shelter are strays collected by the municipality for different reasons. Most are neutered, vaccinated and released because Athens has millions of stray animals and limited shelter space.
Why Do Some Dogs Stay Longer?
Some dogs remain at the shelter because they require medication, rehabilitation, special care or additional time to build trust. Their stay may last weeks, months or even years.
Long-Term Shelter Residents
Some of our dogs have lived at the shelter for as long as six years. We continue to provide them with care, companionship and hope while searching for the right permanent home.
